  • Re: Rick Warren disavows support for Prop. 8

Mmitchell, What America has done in some places is for SURE chilling. But there are also some very heroic things we’ve done that must be highly praised. We should not forget them. America basically saved the world twice in the last century, from nazism and from communism and has done a lot of other...

  • Re: Obama and McCain to appear togethr at Saddleback Church

Amazing! I hope this event is given the coverage that it deserves. Here's something I would like to ask: So much attention is focused on human rights issues in China, what about the largest democary in the world, India, where people are persecuted for their faith?

  • Re: Obama and McCain to appear togethr at Saddleback Church

I think it's great - Let them say what they want to say. In the context of a church they'll both say things in ways that may be very revealing. You'll know what's important to them by what they choose to bring up and you'll know what they're afraid to talk about by what they avoid...

"There's nothing dishonorable in a person rethinking his or her positions, especially in a constantly changing political context," Dobson said in a statement to the AP Earlier, Dobson had said he could not in good conscience vote for McCain, citing the candidate's support for embryonic...

  • Your freedom to speak Biblical truth

Every election season, various groups try to intimidate churches and pastors to be silent on the great social and moral issues of our time. But churches and pastors have a God-given right—protected by our Constitution—to speak to the issues of our day and to be, as Scripture commands, the...

  • Re: On Campaign Trail, Democrats Put Their Faith in Book of James

Whether democrat or republican or independant or other, I tend to take faith-talk from poiliticians with an entire salt mine. Even if they personally have a real and vital faith life, that doesn't mean that their interpretation of what that means politically has any Biblical validity, theological...

  • On Campaign Trail, Democrats Put Their Faith in Book of James

Saturday, July 12, 2008; Page B09 - washingtonpost.com ...Over the past several years, Democrats have succeeded in marshaling the religious left and have built a bigger audience attuned to biblical language. With its calls to serve society's marginalized and its critique of wealth, James represents...

  • Wright's Wrongs

AFTER he became notorious as the man who urged God to damn America, Jeremiah Wright claims he wrestled with two impulses. The first was to heed the proverb: “It is better to be quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” The second was to “come across...

  • Re: Rick Warren takes on his critics

What troubled me was when ps. Rick Warren said the inauguration prayer for the then newly elected president Barack Obama early this year. Not only was Rick getting flamed by the gay rights & pro-choice movements, he was also flamed by certain Christian groups. I thought that was unhelpful. The Bible...

  • Obama and McCain to appear togethr at Saddleback Church

It has taken a man of God, perhaps, to do what nobody else has been able to do since the general election season began: Get Barack Obama and John McCain together on the same stage before their party conventions later this summer.
