An interesting response from Rick on how he views his critics ...
Thanks for the link. I learned some things -- like Rick hasn't worn a Hawaiian shirt in 2 years.
The interviewer said he had the impression that the critics had gotten under his skin a little bit. I thought that, too, at least in the way the interview was portrayed to us. However, I can NOT even imagine dealing with the kind of criticism Rick has had to deal with!
I also found Rick's disavowing of things done in the name of PD and Saddleback interesting (in a positive sense).
Looking forward to Rick's appearance on Larry King tonight.

I think a word of caution might be in order. A man is just a man no matter who that man is.
What troubled me was when ps. Rick Warren said the inauguration prayer for the then newly elected president Barack Obama early this year. Not only was Rick getting flamed by the gay rights & pro-choice movements, he was also flamed by certain Christian groups.
I thought that was unhelpful. The Bible taught about praying for those in authority. So why were these Christians so upset? Why are Christians playing into the hands of partisan politics & politicians?
Over here in Asia, there is no such thing as a Christian nation. Christians are a minority, except perhaps in South Korea. Being a Christian could mean persecution or imprisonment. So our Faith rest on Christ & Christ alone, not in politics or politicians.

I, for one, am grateful that Rick does not waste his time answering his critics. It is a huge waste of time, energy, and other valuable resources. To respond one in a while, like this, is good. It lets people know where he stands. But to stoop down to the level of critics is a huge waste.
As I search the scriptures I find that God entrusts more to those who are faithful, and takes away from those who are not faithful.
Is it any wonder why God has entrusted so much to Rick?
thats his purpose :D
