First, THANKS to those responsible for this online community and its development!
Second, I assume that you're interested in user experience and feedback (especially as you prepare to go live with the new site). :)
Things seem to be coming together well, but a couple things I've noticed that I thought I'd mention, just in case they're not on your radar yet ...
I don't seem to be able to control the "Blogs" section on my home page, yet. For some reason, all of Paul Agnew's posts and replies are listed there.
More critically, though, there seems to be a security issue on the blogs. The "common tasks" ("Control Panel" and "Write a Blog Post") appear to be available to everyone (or, at least to me), which should only be available to the blog owner, right? As it is now, it looks like anyone can go into anyone's control panel and make changes or even write new posts on anyone's blogs (not that anyone would do that, of course!).
As I said, though, things seem to be coming together well, overall. I look forward to its continued development!

Randy,
I noticed some of the same, when I set my blog up, I wanted to go back and make some changes, but have had trouble getting back?

He'll be back!!!
Thank you for the feedback on the BETA site so far. Your help is greatly appreciated. In response to what you found:
1. The "Blogs" section on the homepage is not appropriately titled which is contributed to the confusion there. It is really just a place to show all the latest Blog posts from all over the community. Paul just happened to be the most active at the time. We have a bug fix in progress to change the title. Suggestions?
2. The security issue has been taken care of. It was a configuration change. Thank you!
3. We are going to add a Blog link in the left nav of all users profiles that takes them to their Blog. SImple change but should eliminate some of the trouble finding it.
Thanks again for your feedback. It is extremely helpful. Keep it coming!
Blessings,
Matt
Ah, your explanation of the Blogs section makes sense, Matt.
What led me to believe that it was a section for my blog was 1) Mark Bjorlo's preview image (i.e. I thought it was a link to his blog), and 2) everything else in the left column of the home page is from the member, right? But underneath those sections, there's a link to other members' content.
Anyway, your explanation makes sense now.
I see how you fixed it, Matt, while I was responding here. Good fix!
A little more feedback (*not* complaints )...
On the Community Blogs page, the list doesn't appear to be updated. The same blogs have been listed for a while (same ones I referred to above), while others have not been added to the list.
Also, on my member home page, under Your Posts, it still says, "You have not yet posted or commented," even though I have 3 posts. Not the biggest deal, but it's a nice feature to track my posts and comments.
Most of the site seems to be developing nicely. A couple things I really like are the Shared Feeds on my member profile page., which allows me to link to my main blog. I also like the My Files to Share section.
Thanks! Still learning and discovering ...
I like what I've seen so far, I can tell it is going to take some time to figure out how to use this forum to it's fullest potential, but once we have, it is going to be a great tool.
Because I'm still working in two full time positions (90 hours a week), right now I don't have a lot of time to learn the ins and outs of this site - though I'm VERY interested in learning! In a couple of weeks I'm cutting my secular job down from 45+ hours to 20, so maybe I'll have time them.
Tony asked on my page where my picture was and I'm sorta wondering as well. I've tried uploading it several times but it doesn't seem to be working. I managed to get my church logo up, so it's not a problem with files in my laptop.
Blessings!
Rob
make sure after clicking browse and finding your picture, you hit save at the bottom of the screen, not "update". It's a known bug right now that is causing some confusion.
I had tried it both of those ways and I had also tried it using a jpeg and using a gif.
I just tried it again (browsing and saving). I'm waiting to see if it updates in a few minutes.
OK - I did it right and it still hasn't shown up.
You've probably already done so, but have you selected "yes" for "Enable Picture"?
Yep! I did.
Here we are - much later - and it STILL won't upload my picture.
Rob,
Do me a favor and see if you can attach your profile picture to a post here by clicking on the "Insert media" button on the toolbar.
