Look who is giving the invocation.
Awesome.
I actually just came here to post the news but Waldo beat me to it.

This is going to anger a lot of people, both conservative and liberal... AND I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY THAT MAKES ME!
As someone who WAY too often finds himself on the "wrong" side of an issue with whoever I'm talking to (liberal or conservative), I'm thrilled to think that we may finally be learning to work with and relate to people that we disagree with - something that my parents and grandparents were careful to teach me before I went to kindergarten.
Kudos to Barak Obama. Kudos to Rick Warren.
Blessings!

Amen.
I'm thrilled about it, myself!
Go Rick!

I had to clean my office for my avatar picture. Maybe I should take pictures more often...
Here's a suggestion: give our leaders the capacity and opportunity to be righteous and do justice; if not, take them out.

Go Rick. Pray in Jesus name. Call sin sin. Preach the Gospel during the invocation. Don't be a wimp or compromise like eharmony.
Pastor Rick
During the invocation, please pray in the NAME OF JESUS, not any nameless and unindentified god.
In the name of Jesus
Malamine: Pastor Rick During the invocation, please pray in the NAME OF JESUS, not any nameless and unindentified god. In the name of Jesus
Now, c'mon. Do you really think RICK is going to pray in the name of a nameless and unindentified god?!
I have read that Franklin Graham have been sued for praying in the name of Jesus during President Bush's inauguration, and that with the exception of Franklin Graham almost all invocation prayers did not mention the name of Jesus, but only God. This is the meaning of my intervention. If I am mistaken please forgive me
Well RW sure didn't "wimp out" - not that there was ever any chance he might!
I don't know about that. I do know that Kirbyjon Caldwell, a United Methodist who prayed at both of GWBush's inaugurations named Jesus in his prayers.
I thought he was pretty straight forward about who he was talking about.
And ending with the Lord's Prayer was pretty gutsy.
Rick ended his prayer in a way that points all his listeners to Jesus whose names he called as contained in some of the other religions of the world. It is part of the simplicity and presentation of Gods message by Rick

Just to clarify my previous post, I was replying to Malamine. I tried to fix it, but couldn't.
You're right, Rick was very clear. I was contesting the idea that no one else has prayed in the name of Jesus recently.
