Hindu nationals are targeting Christians causing 50,000 Christians to take refuge in jungles. Thousands of Christians have fled their homes in fear of more violence. Churches, homes, orphanages and Bibles have been burned. The Indian leaders came to America to plead for help. They said they need America's help to change the situation in India. The Indian government has taken no action.

Two of India's religious leaders met with business and church leaders at Biola University in September to discuss the current persecution in India with Fox news. The Fox news special aired on Friday, Oct. 3, titled “Attacks on Christians in India Continue, Thousands Flee.”

WOW!  An incredible reminder to me that we are still fighting the battle to express our faith in Jesus and the sufferings that they are going through.

I've just come back from India. There has always been opposition to the gospel, but this has caught nationwide attention in India itself. There have been a number of rallies where Christians have prayed and expressed support for their distressed brothers and sisters.

What I find alarming is tha the government is not doing anything. The congress party in power at the moment. Next year a general election is due in May or June. The BJP could return to power and that is the fundamentalist Hindu party. So what will things be like then?

Information that I am getting out of India is that this persecution is spreading. In individual cases it is being incited by local Hindus but mainly it is coming from outside.

This does seem to be a planned scheme aiming at influencing the outcome of next year's general election.

Orrissa is a backward state but since the 60's when the anti-conversion laws were passed, Christianity has grown from around 2% of the population to around 18% according to what I have been reading. Most of the Christians are Dalits, tribal people who were formally known as the untouchables.

In recent years persecution although very uncomfortable hasn't damaged the church, in fact it normally enhances growth. But if we go back to the early middle ages we find that heavy persecution wiped out whole movements that were promising to bring change.

Let's just join together and lift up hands and hearts to pray for our beleagued brothers and sisters, who are suffering for doing things that we could also do, but are sometimes too laid back: go to church on Sunday, read the Bible, pray, attend the prayer meeting, do good  and share your faith with others!

Thanks for informing us on this and I will be placing this on our Prayer Circle so that the Church can intercede. God bless!

Saints, Apostle James in his epistle wrote, "Count it all joy, when ye fall into diverse temptations (problems)" Thank you all for your constant prayer, we in India are challenged and encouraged, these waves of persecution has awakened the churches, and has brought christians together to fast and pray and to discuss about the further action and strategy.

Yes, we need much prayers, we will be able to overcome through the power of God.

Please, continue to pray for the general election in the coming year.

Thanks

Pr. Ezra Thomas
