What are your views regarding the U.S. Military distributing Bibles? Should this be something we do as a means of promoting peace, therefore the military should do it? Or, is it something our military should avoid because it is a religious thing, and therefore becomes a state promoted religion?
I don't know if the military should be do it, but the idea of passing out Bibles because it "becomes a state promoted religion" is not valid - at least not in the United States. One of the first acts of the Continental Congress was to purchase Bibles for distribution! This did not promote a state religion - because they were not promoting one Christian religion over another - they were simply promoting Christianity.
This was not an issue for the guys that wrote the Constitution - only for those today who are mis-interpreting it.
