Palin certainly showed that she was a very good communicator tonight. It'll be interesting to see what impact she had on listeners/voters.

As a side note, I can't imagine (even from a mental, emotional, physical perspective) going from being a mayor of a small town to governor of a somewhat isolated state that's not connected to the 48, and speaking to a national convention and the nation in prime time in just a few short years.

I'm listening CNN's commentary and they're raving about her speech. Wolf Blitzer said she "hit a home run; it might have been a grand slam." I mention that because it was clear that the Republicans were attacking the media tonight as every speaker had harsh words for the media. I'm not sure who they were attacking more -- the Democrats or the media. I thought it was over the top.

It was a very good speech. She definitely went on the attack against Obama, much like his speech on the last night of the DNC. She probably won a lot of people over.

My only little problem - I probably wouldn't have brought the guy on stage who got my daughter pregnant. But then, that's just me.Angry

That was an image thing (IMO). Based on the headlines I've seen, the guy was called a "redneck." Palin has said, too, that the couple plans to marry, so again, I think it was an image thing (kinda like putting a defendant in a suit for his court appearance). Smile

A couple things:

First, about the kid:  I think bringing the kid on stage was an incredible coup against the media, and I think it took guts.

Remember, the Dems would have:

A. Murdered the baby to hide the evidence, or

B. Denied the pregnancy and hid her away, or

C. Launched a character assassination attack against anyone who brought it up, or

D. Simply declared it off limits because the boy's a kid.

That's what they've done in the past to protect their own, but they are violating all their past rules to attack this kid. (I also thought it was good to see him and her holding hands and behaving like family.)

Second, of course Pailin is a good communicator.  She's a good leader, too.  I'm kinda tired of the stuff about her not having any idea about international affairs.

Her state borders Canada and the old USSR.  Her air space is infringed upon daily (AGAIN) by Ivan't the Terrible's (Russian) war planes.  She is Commander-In-Chief of the Alaska National Guard.  I may be wrong about this because I haven't thought about it in a while, so feel free to correct me, but:

HER state boundary actually - at one point in the geography - essentially overlaps with Ivan's.

Those are HER jets that tackle Ivan's daily invasion of HER air space.

Those are HER people in the ANG who, unlike most state NGs, are actually fulltime and manage OUR missile shield against ICBM attacks from Ivan.

And, btw, attacking the MSM and attacking the Dem's is pretty much one-in-the-same.

I thought the speech last night was brilliant.  I know many people didn't think it was a good idea to bring Bristol's boyfriend on stage last night, but I thought that it was a good thing.  First of all it was bold to do such a thing.  But it also shows that while the family knows that Bristol and her boyfriend made a mistake, it doesn't mean that they stop loving them.  And they will love the baby also.  The kids made a mistake, but that baby is not a mistake.  That is something that the MSM and the Dems need to get through their head.

Obama has even said, "I wouldn't want my daughter being punished with a baby."

Anyway, I thought the whole night was GREAT!

I suspect that Alaska might be more connected than we think. For example:

August 10  - According to its semi-annual report released in March 2008, the Federal Communications Commission states that there are no ZIPcodes in Alaska that are without a broadband provider, as of June 30, 2007, . . .

Sarah Palin reminds me of a lot of evangelical women that I have known in my life.

You may (or not) be interested in Doug Pagitt's 1-minute-47-second video response to Palin's speech recorded at the RNC immediately after the speech. It was interesting to for the up-close-and-personal perspective (e.g., he was able to follow her speech on the teleprompter).
